Hyundai - Error Code P0111
[BACK]

Posted On: March 10, 2022
The P0111 code occurs when the powertrain control module (PCM) thinks the signal from the intake air temperature (IAT) sensor is outside its normal operating range.
CAUSES:
- Faulty Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor
- Dirty air filter
- Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor harness is open or shorted
- Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor circuit poor electrical connection
SYMPTOMS:
- Check engine light
- Bad fuel mileage
- Poor performance
DIAGNOSE AND REPAIR:
- Diagnosing this code can be cumbersome. Try to record the sensor information while idling. Take the car for a test drive, and have a passenger record the sensor information during engine load. The sensors voltage should rise and fall roughly with the engines RPMs.
- During Key On Engine Off, the reference voltage should be a steady 5V.
