Hyundai - Error Code P0100

Hyundai - Error Code P0100
This diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is a generic powertrain code, which means that it applies to OBD-II equipped vehicles that have a mass airflow sensor. The MAF (mass air flow) sensor is mounted in a vehicle's engine air intake tract downstream from the air filter, and is used to measure the volume and density of air being taken into the engine. This P0100 diagnostic trouble code (DTC) means that there is a problem with the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor or circuit.
Causes:
- Dirty/Failed MAF sensor
- Air intake leaks
- MAF sensor electrical harness or wiring problem
Symptoms:
- Rough running engine
- Black smoke from tail pipe
- Stalling
- Engine hard start or stalling after it starts
Diagnose & Repair:
- Check for any Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) relating to this issue and your vehicles make/model
Use a scan tool to monitor real-time sensor values from the MAF sensor and compare with your vehicles make and model - If the air filter is dirty, replace it with a new one
- Check all MAF sensor wiring and connections to make sure they are in good working condition (not frayed, broken, or exposed wiring)
- Clean the MAF sensor wiring and connections of contamination such as dirt, dust, oil, etc.
- Check for any air leaks in the air intake system
- Check for any vacuum leaks downstream of the MAF sensor.
- Carefully clean the MAF using MAF cleaner spray
